6/4/2013 - Updates

• The SFBS June dinner meeting will be on June 13, 2013 at the Duck’s Club at the Lafayette Hotel in Lafayette. Hugh Logan with the City of Livermore Water Reclamation Plant will be presenting on "Operators and Mechanics: Frontline Asset Managers". • The Professional Development Committee will be hosting a tour of SFPUC's Headquarter Onsite Gray and Black Water Treatment System on Wednesday June 12th at 3:15 pm. One of the first buildings nationwide with onsite gray and black water treatment and a "Living Machine," come see how the new design manages to consume less than 60 percent water than similarly sized buildings. • Save The Date: The Northern Regional Training Conference will be held on September 10, 11, and 12, in Modesto. Abstracts for the conference are currently being accepted and are due May 31st. For more information, please see the NRTC save the date and call for abstracts flyers.

• Update: The SFBS May dinner meeting is the joint meeting with the Santa Clara Valley Section, and will be on May 23th (the 4th Thursday) at the Crown Plaza in Foster City. Heidi Sanborn, California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC), will be presenting on "Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship in California - How the Wastewater Industry Can Help Support SB 727". To reserve your spot, contact Sid Nash at cweascvs@gmail.com for dinner reservations. Please include your name, your agency or company, and your menu choice. If you require dietary or other special accommodations, please provide a written description of your needs. Reservation deadline is Monday, May 20th at 4:00pm. • There will be a two-day Biological Wastewater Treatment Seminar by Environmental Leverage® Inc. on July 15th and 16th at Delta Diablo Sanitation District in Antioch. The seminar will present the process control methodologies and laboratory techniques necessary to control the activated sludge process with an emphasis on process monitoring and trouble shooting. • Do Regulations Puzzle You? Constantly Trying to Decipher Regulations? Start with the basics! The SFBS Professional Development Committee will be holding a Wastewater Treatment Regulations 101 Seminar on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, 8:00am-4:00pm at the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, Martinez, CA. This introductory seminar will provide an overview of NPDES regulations, technology- and water quality-based limitations, biosolids regulations and compliance, wastewater reuse guidelines, current and upcoming air regulations, among other interesting topics.
