A warm welcome is given to Barbara Stamatelos who has so
graciously agreed to be our new newsletter editor! Please feel free
to send articles, newsworthy items, announcements, etc to Barbara
for inclusion in the Inkspot. Remember to send copies to Bill
Slenter, our Webmaster, so he can include them on our Bay
Section website. Barbara’s e-mail address is: astamatelo@aol.com.
Bill can be reached through our website, www.cwea.org/sfb
or by e-mailing him at bslenter@rmcengr.com.
The Bay Section Board and Committee Chairs held our annual
planning meeting in February. This is an opportunity for us to plan
and focus our energies on those things that we feel would best serve
our members. Let me tell you, the Committee Chairs came to the
meeting with great enthusiasm and energy for the upcoming year.
Please, if you’re interested in getting more involved with the Bay
Section, joining a committee is a great way to do so. I want to
welcome our new Chairs: Cassie Prudhel from South San
Francisco will be assisting Bill Ellgas with the Laboratory
Committee and Paul Louis from Central San will be taking
over the Collection System Committee. Welcome and glad to
have you onboard!
Our March meeting was our annual student night where companies
and agencies hold a "job fair", then we get to hear from a
student who is doing some cutting edge research in the wastewater
field. This year’s Student Night was a great success; many
students and companies/agencies attended and all had a grand time.
This annual event is one I always look forward to as a way to
introduce ourselves to the future employees in our industry and have
them introduce themselves.
Be sure to mark on your calendars our April dinner meeting which
will be joint with the Santa Clara Valley Section (see the flyer in
this newsletter). I like to have a good showing of Bay Section
members at these joint meetings with other Sections. It’s not that
I’m competing or anything … okay, maybe a little friendly
competition. Actually, it’s a great opportunity to meet with old
friends or maybe expand our contacts and exchange stories and
information. I hope to see many of you there.
Until then … take care, be safe and enjoy life!
