Announces 2001 Award Winners and Installs New Board

by Leo Gonzalez
The San Francisco Bay Section held its annual awards and
installation banquet on Friday, January 11th at Scotts Restaurant,
in Jack London Square. Having the banquet in January is a change for
the Bay Section, which normally is held in February. The San
Francisco Bay Section Board decided on the change to allow more time
to submit the winner applications to CWEA for the annual
conference.
About 140 people packed the "Harbor Room" in Scotts
Restaurant to enjoy a night dedicated to honoring outstanding
performances within our industry. The annual awards night is
historically the most popular event for the San Francisco Bay
Section. It is one time during the year when you can visit with many
friends and have the opportunity to make new acquaintances.
The evening started out with a social hour and picture taking of
candid shots showing members getting caught up on the latest events.
Dave Williams, past president of the Bay Section assumed the duty of
awards chair for the banquet and also acted as master of ceremony.
Dave provided a warm welcome to all attendees and introduced Larry
Tolby, CWEA Vice President who spoke briefly on CWEA and how it was
like a big family. Since Larry is one of the leaders in our family,
he momentarily forgot which CWEA family he was with because he
started to introduce the San Francisco Bay Section officers as the
Santa Clara Valley Section. This definitely got a RISE out of his
Bay Section family. That's like going to a San Francisco 49er game,
surrounded by 49er fans and wearing the opposing teams' colors. (BUT
WE STILL LOVE YA LARRY!)
After an excellent dinner programs (THANKS RAY BUSCH!) we moved
to the main event of the evening which was the installation of the
new officers for the San Francisco Bay Section and the presentation
of awards.

We
had great nominations for this year’s San Francisco Bay Section
awards and thank all the applicants for their time and effort in
putting together their applications.
Congratulations go to this year’s award recipients!
We wish them good luck at the annual conference.
The
evening ended as many members said their good-bye’s to old friends
and the award winners assembled for the annual picture taking
ceremony. As always it
was an enjoyable evening and the Section looks forward to
accomplishing many tasks over the upcoming year and once again
assembling for the banquet in the year 2002.
