Announces 2002 Award Winners and Installs New Board By Leo Gonzalez The San Francisco Bay Section held its annual awards and installation banquet on Friday, January 10th at Scotts Restaurant in Jack London Square. Approximately 150 people packed the "Pavilion Room" at Scotts Restaurant to enjoy a night dedicated to honoring outstanding performances within our industry. It is one time a year that we can all join together and visit with friends and have the opportunity to make new acquaintances. We started off the evening with a toast from Leo Gonzalez, thanking all employees and their facilities for their dedication and support, because without it the San Francisco Bay Section wouldn't be what it is today. He proceeded with the introduction of SFBS, CWEA, and WEF Past Presidents. It was an honor to have Elizabeth Allen - Executive Director of CWEA, Julie Taylor - Director of Professional Development and Member Services, and Angela Nielsen - Executive Assistant and Coordinator of Leadership Development attend the awards banquet. Elizabeth addressed the audience with a warm welcome. Denis Pollack, President of CWEA greeted everyone and spoke about a few changes within CWEA. He also spoke about recent changes within his own personal career. Teresa Herrera, Past President of the San Francisco Bay Section assumed the duties of awards chair for the banquet and also acted as master of ceremony. After an excellent dinner program, we moved to the main event of the evening which was the installation of new officers for the San Francisco Bay Section and the presentation of awards. 2003

Congratulations go to this year's award recipients! We wish them good luck at the Annual Conference. The evening ended with closing remarks from Sandeep Karkal, President of the San Francisco Bay Section. He encouraged everyone to attend the monthly dinner meetings and is looking forward to a prosperous year. The award winners assembled for the annual picture taking ceremony. As always, it was an enjoyable evening and the section looks forward to accomplishing many tasks over the upcoming year and once again assembling for the banquet in 2004.
