Central Marin Sanitation Agency
CMSA operates a water resource recovery facility in Marin County which, during dry weather, treats and disposes a daily average of 8 million gallons of wastewater as clean effluent into the San Francisco Bay, consistently meeting and exceeding federal and state regulatory requirements. During the rainy season, the amount received can jump to over 100 million gallons per day. The facility also beneficially reuses biosolids and biogas and produces renewable power. The Health & Safety Program’s focus is to develop and maintain workplace safety programs, while managing employee injury/return-to-work initiatives. The program includes providing safety training, developing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures, performing safety assessments of facilities and employee work practices, monitoring changes in Cal/OSHA safety regulations, and providing a variety of other safety services.
Purpose
The Plant Safety award is awarded in three categories: small, medium and large. Criteria include number of injuries, lost-time accidents, record keeping, in-house training, emergency response and program implementation.
