The South Placer Municipal Utility District (SPMUD) has appointed CWEA Member, Eric Nielsen, P.E., as its ninth General Manager. With over 19 years of water and wastewater experience, Nielsen has served as SPMUD’s Superintendent and District Engineer. He holds a Master’s in Civil Engineering, is a licensed professional engineer, and a CWEA-certified Grade 4 Collection System Maintenance professional. Nielsen is currently overseeing a major SCADA Improvement Project to enhance system resilience. Succeeding retiring GM Herb Niederberger, Nielsen is committed to advancing SPMUD’s mission of protecting public health, delivering cost-effective sewer services, and ensuring a sustainable future for the district’s 83,000 residents.
